PASSION MEETS PURPOSE

My Story

A teaching-oriented human is a wave that never ends; looms and recedes to and from the sea. They see themselves grow every year in new faces of their children.

My yearn for job satisfaction ended when I stumbled over the field of teaching special children. This was way back in 2000. Working at JBCN Intnl school in Mumbai for over a year and then moving to Dubai.

Dubai – Working at the prestigious Dubai Autism Center opened my eyes to the beautiful world of Autism and the complexity of the mysterious condition. Coming from a Psychology background I was keen to learn and explore the field of Applied Behavior Analysis that was introduced in Dubai during that time. Moving on since then, I worked with young adults with developmental difficulties at Special Needs Future Development center for 9 years. The number of diverse requirements and insights that this work profile brought with it was immeasurable. Meanwhile, I pursued my Master’s degree in Psychology and PG in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. At the same time, I saw a huge need for community support group amongst our expat families associated with the mosque and that’s when special need support group was established at Burhani Masjid in Dubai. This initiative led to so many more beautiful ones that have changed the landscape of how special children are viewed, accepted and uniquely taught Islamic values.

Canada – Moving to GTA, I have been working with clients on the spectrum ranging from 3 years to 16 years of age while accruing my hours towards my BCBA licensure and Ontario behavior analysis registration.

Introduction

I am a Registered Behavior Analyst (R.B.A) and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA®) working within the field of Autism and Developmental Services. I hold a Master’s degree in Applied Disability Studies with specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis.

My entry into the realm of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) was sparked by personal connection and experience in mainstream education. Following a physical move across continents, I landed a job as a Program Assistant working with autistic children and youth. This was the start of my journey in the field of Autism and ABA and I haven’t looked back. The children and youth I work with are a source of inspiration and teach me valuable lessons of determination, grit, compassion and kindness, each day.

My core competencies are in the area of designing and implementing effective behavioral interventions, Clinical Supervision of ABA Programs, risk management, and Parent Training. In all this, I am deeply passionate about parent training and coaching and have witnessed the positive outcomes of partnering and collaborating with caregivers. Additionally, I am a trained Facilitator for Triple P (Positive Parenting), Facing Your Fears (Dealing with Anxiety), Children’s Friendship Training and UCLA Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®)
